FARMINGTON — Henderson Memorial Baptist Church invites the community to a traditional candlelight service at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
There will be many Christmas carols to sing, the story of Jesus’ birth will be told by many readers, the choir will sing an anthem, a meditation will be offered and the Christ candle will be lit. The light from the Christ candle will then be shared to light all the candles in the congregation as all sing “Silent Night.”
A special offering will be received for the Franklin County Ecumenical Heating Fund, in remembrance of the baby born in a stable, who also needed warmth. All are welcome.
With Christmas Day coming on a Sunday this year, not every church is planning to hold services. There will be no Sunday school classes at 9, but Henderson Memorial Baptist Church invites the whole community to a celebration of Jesus’ birth on Christmas Day at 10:30. “Grace Happens” will be the theme of Pastor Crane’s message. Henderson Memorial Baptist Church is at 110 Academy St. For more information call 778-2163.
An 11 p.m. service will be held on Christmas Eve at Trinity United Methodist Church. The service is under the direction of Pastor Walter Brown and is sponsored by FAEM.
