LEWISTON — Eleita Lynn Hawthorne Munroe of Windham, passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, with her family by her side at Central Maine Medical Center. After years of battling her blood disorder and going through a stem cell transplant that was successful on July 21, her body succumbed to liver failure.
She was born on July 30, 1969, in Portland. She was the daughter of William and Barbara Stone, whom still live in New Gloucester.
Eleita came from a big family and has aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that loved her very much along with her brothers, sisters and parents.
Eleita graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High school in 1988. She enjoyed playing softball and was liked by many classmates.
Eleita was an energetic person who worked for many years at Wing’s Variety in upper New Gloucester as a cook/waitress. She was loved by many patrons there because of her bubbly spirit and the continuous smile she would greet them with. Most recently, she worked at Mario’s Restaurant as a cook/waitress.
Eleita enjoyed the outdoors and liked camping, canoeing and getting out fishing with her husband “Chuck.” She also loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her nieces and nephews tremendously. They would always make her laugh and smile.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Munroe and her two children, Brandon and Lynsey; her three brothers, Jimmy of New Gloucester, Arthur of Winthrop and Brian of New Gloucester; her three sisters, Michelle of Livermore, Sonya of Limington and Trina of New Gloucester; she also has two stepbrothers, Richard of Enta and Robert of New Gloucester; her grandmother, Eunice Stone of Gray; and her dear friend, “BFF,” Angie Hewey.
Eleita was an ANGEL who touched so many people’s lives and had a heart of gold. She was always smiling and people loved her joyful spirit. Her life was rich with many friendships. She will be greatly missed, but she will still be doing what she has always done throughout her whole life and that is “Being an Angel looking over all her Loved Ones.”
