AUBURN — Police arrested a 47-year-old Mechanic Falls man and recovered stolen drugs shortly after the Christmas Day robbery of the Rite-Aid pharmacy on Minot Avenue.
John Letourneau was held on $1,000 cash bail Sunday night at Androscoggin County Jail.
A man had entered the store and handed pharmacy staff a note demanding drugs, police said in a prepared statement. Once they handed over the requested drugs, the man fled.
Police were called at 3:45 p.m. and collected witness descriptions of the man and his vehicle.
Less than an hour later, Auburn police officer Shawn Carll stopped Letourneau driving in Mechanic Falls.
Letourneau had a weapon with him when he was caught, police Chief Phil Crowell said Sunday.
Letourneau was detained and later charged with robbery.
