RUMFORD — Barbara June Parrella, 85, died on Sunday, Dec. 18, in Rumford.

She was born March 9, 1926, in Rumford, the daughter of Chandler Adley and Ethel Cawley. She grew up in Rumford and Deer Isle, Canada. She graduated from Stephens High School in 1945 as a member of the National Honor Society.

In 1947, she married Ted Parrella. Upon retirement, Ted and Barbara moved to Naples and then Sun City Center, Fla., where they lived for more than 20 years. After Ted’s death, Barbara returned to her home town. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John’s church, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Barbara is survived by her son, Anthony John Parrella and his wife, Susan, of Portland; her grandchildren, Nicholas Parrella of Portland and Allison Parrella Verdier of Henderson, Nev.; Allison’s husband, Alexandre Verdier, and their children, Julian and Noemie Verdier; other surviving relatives are, her sister-in-law, Gloria Huber and husband, Tom and their children, Pat, Chris and Mary, and their families; also the Adley, Parrella, Gotto and Mozden nieces and nephews and their families; and her half-brothers and sisters and their families, Elaine Trufant, Tom Adley and Eleanor Adley.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ted; their son, John; her brothers, Garfield and Stanwood Adley; her sister, Gloria McLaughlin; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Adley; and her half brother, James Adley.
