LEWISTON — Douglas Thomas Wilson, 69, of Wilton, died early Monday, Dec. 26, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born a “twin,” Sept. 1, 1942, in East Wilton, a son of Matt and Irma (Luce) Wilson and attended Wilton schools. He was employed for a time at Forster Manufacturing Co., and later for the town of Wilton at the Recycling Center. He loved to kayak, pan for gold and was proud to have lived “off the grid” for many years with no bills.
Doug was creative, having created a shingle maker that allowed him to take his skills to Colonial Williamsburg, where he worked for two years making shingles for the historical village.
He is survived by a son, Tom and his wife, Vicki, of Fayette and their daughter, Maddie; sisters, Rita Simpson and her husband, Jim, of Rangeley, his twin, Donna Richard and her husband, Ernest, of Dixfield, Carole Richards and her husband, Barry, of Livermore, Roberta O’Donnell and her husband, Steve, of Buxton and Wendy Martin and her husband, Dave, of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Richard; and a daughter, Irma.
Tributes, condolences and pictures may be shared on his memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
