Titcomb Mountain to host TD Bank Eastern Cup Nordic Ski Race

On Sunday, January 15, 2012, Titcomb Mountain will be host to one of its highest profile Nordic ski events ever when the New England Nordic Ski Association holds one of its four Eastern Cup racing events. Elite athletes and Nordic college ski teams from New England and New York will be joined by our own local Nordic skiers to bring over 800 athletes, coaches, and spectators to Franklin County.

Sunday’s competition will feature a 15-km, 10-km, and a 5-km mass start races starting at 10 a.m. In addition, starting at 9 a.m. there will be a Bill Koch Youth League race for children.

Ski fans will have an opportunity to see some of the finest U.S. athletes in the sport. We hope to attract some national-ranked athletes to the Titcomb Eastern Cup, because they will be competing the week before in the U.S. Cross-Country Championships at Black Mountain.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Titcomb Mountain to be the host site for such a prestigious event. The staff and volunteers of the Farmington Ski Club have been preparing since March! Their hard work has yielded some great improvements to the Nordic trail system which will benefit all skiers.

The Farmington Ski Club is looking forward to this event. We are inviting the community to come to Titcomb on January 15, to support the mountain and the athletes. It will give skiers and nonskiers an opportunity to experience a unique and wonderful sporting event.
