JAY — Police say unsafe speed was a factor in a two-vehicle crash that sent two to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Dillon Fisher, 20, of Jay was driving a 1999 Chevy Lumina east on the Hyde Road when he went around a curve too fast, lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road, Jay officer Nicholas Gulliver said at the scene.
Fisher then tried to correct the vehicle and went back on to the road and into the opposite lane where he struck a 2000 Buick Century driven west by Chester Millett, 70, of Chesterville, Gulliver said.
Millett had to be cut out of his vehicle. He was taken by NorthStar Ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital where he was treated for three broken ribs and later released, Gulliver said.
One of three passengers in Fisher’s car, Kendra Littler, 17, of Livermore Falls, was also taken by NorthStar to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for a possible neck injury, cuts and bruises, he said.
Fisher and two other passengers, Emily Fisher and an unidentified male, all refused treatment.
Both vehicles were damaged beyond repair and towed from the scene by Northside Auto.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department helped with reconstruction of the accident and members of Jay Fire Department also helped at the scene.
