LEWISTON— The Midcoast Symphony Orchestra will present its annual orchestra showcase Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Franco-American Heritage Center and Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Orion Performing Arts Center at Mt. Ararat Middle School in Topsham.

The entire orchestra, led by Music Director Rohan Smith, will be on stage for Shostakovich’s heroic triumph, the Symphony No. 5 in D minor.

The string section will perform the “Adagietto” from Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. The brass section will present “La Peri Fanfare,” by Dukas, followed by the wind section in Dvorak’s Serenade in D minor.

Saturday’s concert at the Franco center begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday’s concert at the Orion center is at 2:30 p.m.
