Auburn firefighters, from front, Don Flanagan, Tom Printup and Chip Keene, polish the brass components on a 1933 Ahrens-Fox fire engine Thursday. Auburn firefighters work on the preservation of the relic on their own time. The engine was in service until 1974 and is now on display at the Falcon Shoe factory in Auburn. “We are not trying to restore it,” Keene said. “We are working to preserve it as a piece of local history and for everyone to see in its original condition.”
