The Maine Renegades Peewee Minor team started the new round of Valley League games on a positive note.
The first game of the day was a commanding 4-2 win over Wilmington, Mass. The Rens led 3-1 after the first period and never looked back.
Cam Niven led the way with a pair of goals, while Jack St. Pierre and Casey Cloutier also found the back of the net. Collecting assists were Colby Anotn, Caden Smith and Thomas Levasseur. Jacob Smith and Kyle Labbe shared the goaltending duties.
Game two of the day was a come-from-behind 5-5 tie with Everett, Mass. The Rens led 3-1 after the first period but surrendered three unanswered tallies by their opponent in the second.
With his team trailing 4-3 in the middle of the third, Colby Anton tied the game for the Rens. Everett scored a go-ahead goal with four minutes left. The Rens kept putting pressure on the opposing goalie and with the goalie pulled, Anton scored another tally with eight seconds remaining in the game to secure the tie.
Niven had two goals and two assists, while E,Z, Cormier also collected a goal and an assist. Caden Smith had two assists, and Andrew Verrault and John Mathon had one assist each.
