AUBURN — Jane Richard, 64, of Vassalboro, died after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Jan. 5, at The Hospice House Of Androscoggin surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Feb. 26, 1937, in New York City, to John and Doris (Dietrich) Behringer. She attended schools on Long Island, N.Y., and went on to graduate from the University of Maine, where she met her husband, Ray. Jane was a great lover of animals and over the years had many treasured pets.

Besides her husband, Ray, Jane is survived by her four children and their spouses, Sue and Mike Leighton, John Richard, Jim and Lela Richard and David and Angela Richard; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her beloved chocolate lab, Chocky.
