SCARBOROUGH — Gilda A. Fields Tilton, 83, died Jan. 14, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
Born March 1, 1928, in Portland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Mary Josephine Cepriano Fields. She was a lifelong resident of Portland and attended Portland Schools.
She married Donald O. Tilton Sept. 24, 1949, in Portland.
She loved to travel with her family and her husband, who was a career Coast Guardsman.
After their children left home, she and her husband loved to travel to California, Donald’s home state, Arizona and Florida to watch the Red Sox. She and Donald visited all 48 lower states during their travels. She loved to play bingo, loved her poodles and life itself.
She was a member of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church all her life.
She is survived by her husband; four sons, Blaise A., Michael D. and his wife, Jeannie, Craig M. and his wife, Dawn, and Keith A.; her sister, Amelia McCarthy; 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents; she was predeceased by four brothers, Henry, Kenneth, Donald and Larry; and one sister, Marian Hawley.
