BETHEL — Maggie’s Nature Park in Greenwood is the site of choice for the Mahoosuc Land Trust’s first Winter Outing program.

The park is a network of easy and moderate trails through a variety of forest types that provide several great views of the surrounding area from open ledges, according to Maine Trail Finder.com.

It was donated to Greenwood by Maggie Ring, a lifelong resident and conservationist. The land trust holds a conservation easement on the property that ensures it will remain undeveloped.

The trust will host two hikes starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. A regular hike for ages 11 and up and a special children’s hike for ages 10 and under are planned, Jolan Ippolito, trust spokesman, said Friday by email.

Snowshoes, poles, water and snacks are recommended. The hikes start from Maggie’s parking lot. To get there, turn at the Mount Abram sign on Route 26 in Greenwood, cross the railroad tracks, turn left onto Greenwood Road and proceed 1.4 miles to parking. For more information, call 824-3806.
