SOUTH PARIS — Roland A. Mercier, 92, a lifelong resident of Park Street, Livermore Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1919. in Livermore Falls, the son of Wilfred A. and Rose Anna (Lemay) Mericer. Roland attended school in Livermore Falls. On Sept. 21, 1940, in North Jay, he married his wife of 68 years, Loretta J. Robinson. She passed away March 6, 2009.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Roland worked for the Livermore Falls Record Foundry, building houses with his brother Wilfred and retired from the town of Jay Highway Department. He enjoyed gardening and working on his log cabin near his home.

He is survived by his sons, William Mercier and his wife, Denise, of Rangeley and Daniel Mercier of Livermore Falls; his daughter, Janice Lane of Leeds; his sister, Alice Judd of Livermore Falls; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Lucien, Henry, Joseph, Victor and Wilfred Mercier; and his sisters, Jeannette Chretien and Yvonne Judd.
