RUMFORD — Bangor Savings Bank recently made a $40,000 corporate gift to Black Mountain of Maine.

The donation went to support the facility’s efforts in hosting the 2012 U.S. Cross Country Skiing Championships earlier this month. The funds will also help Black Mountain with winter sports events and programs over the next four years.

More than 400 top skiers from around the world competed in the skiing championships at the mountain. The Western Maine Economic Development Council estimated the championship event gave a $1.5 million boost to the local economy.
