Board: Sabattus selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
Fish, park with care
Issue: It’s derby time. Fish for a Cure needed a mass gathering permit for its planned Jan. 28 pike derby on Sabattus Lake. The third annual event raises money to fight breast cancer.
The scoop: Selectmen held a short public hearing on the application and then approved it.
Up next: One of the mantras for the weekend: Respect private property and park with caution. A number of vehicles parked on private roads were towed last year. Sawyer Road also has to be kept passable for emergency vehicles.
Odds and ends
Issue: Jean-Paul Curran and Jeffrey Baril were appointed to the Ordinance Review Committee.
Issue: Baril was also appointed to the Sabattus Lake Dam Commission. Brian Luongo resigned from that board.
Issue: The Maine Emergency Management Agency has concerns about cracks in Sleeper Dam on the lake. A formal letter is coming from them. Town Manager Andrew Gilmore said the cost of any repairs would be split between Sabattus, Greene and Wales.
