PORTLAND — Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes will join an ensemble of Olympic, world and national champions for the “Stars on Ice” production on March 16 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, where Hughes completed an impeccable long program that sent her home with a gold medal after finishing fourth in the ladies singles short program the day before.

The 16-year-old New Yorker landed a record-setting seven triple jumps and unexpectedly surpassed Russia’s Irina Slutskaya and U.S. favorite Michelle Kwan. In celebration, she will reunite with fellow 2002 Olympians Sasha Cohen, Todd Eldredge, John Zimmerman and Kyoko Ina when the Emmy Award-winning “Stars on Ice” production visits Portland.

Hughes and fellow 2002 Olympic participants will share the ice with four-time World Champion and four-time Canadian National Champion Kurt Browning; two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Ekaterina Gordeeva of Russia; 1998 Olympic Gold Medalist Ilia Kulik of Russia; 2010 Olympic Bronze Medalist Joannie Rochette of Canada; 2011 U.S. National Champion Ryan Bradley; and two-time European Bronze Medalists and seven-time British National Dance Champions Sinead and John Kerr.

Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. performance start at $25 and are available at the civic center box office and all Ticketmaster locations, including Wal-mart Electronics Departments; online at Ticketmaster.com; or by calling 775-3458 or (800) 745-3000. Special on-ice seating is available upon request. For more information, visit www.starsonice.com.
