AUGUSTA — The Girl Scouts of Maine 2012 Girl Scout Cookie Sale is under way and will run through March 9.
Girl Scouts statewide are putting their marketing and sales skills into practice as they attempt to increase this year’s sales by 5 percent, a goal of 1,192,378 boxes.
Cookies are still $3.50 a box and flavors include Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Thanks-A-Lot, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Lemonades, Thin Mints and a Belgian-style caramelized cookie, Shout Outs.
As the public purchases their favorite cookies, they may also participate in Cookie Share, an opportunity to buy cookies and donate them to active and retired military personnel.
Proceeds from cookie activities remain in the area where the cookies are sold. Girls use their “cookie money” to support their chosen activities for the year, fund community service projects, attend summer camp or go on special field trips.
Cookies orders will be delivered the week of March 3 to 9 and public booth sales will take place throughout Maine communities March 10 to April 1. For more information on ordering cookies, contact Girl Scouts of Maine at 888-922-4763.
