NORWAY — Henrick R. “Del” Johnson, 90, of West Paris died Thursday, Jan. 19, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He spent the last two years of his life in West Paris under the loving care of his granddaughter, Lisa Christman and the entire family as well as extended family, Mary Cummings and Cindy and Spencer Woodworth.

Del was a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, Mass. He was an accomplished athlete, high school class president and member of the Chelmsford High School Hall of Fame. Henrick spent his college years at Bates College in Lewiston, where he received a BA in Economics.

He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, and served four years in the Pacific. Henrick then joined his father’s insurance agency and eventually became the owner. He loved animals.

He is survived by two sons, Rhodes and his wife, Donna and Richard and his wife, Joyce; five grandchildren, Lisa Christman and her husband, Tom, Ed Gironi and his wife, Debby, Julia Raybull and her husband, Jim, Rickie Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Gironi, Lisa Campbell and her husband, Jeffrey, Amanda Gironi, Brittany Waterhouse, Thomas Christman, Tina Raybull, Joshua Gironi and Connor Raybull; five great-great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Cadence, Bradley, Nicholas and Jaxon.

Henrick was predeceased by his wife of more than 60 years, Dot.

The family cannot express enough about how kind, caring, thoughtful and professional the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital were to them.
