This is in response to the Sun Journal article “Roxbury residents lodge turbine noise complaints” (Jan. 12).
The West Shore homeowner, Linda Kuras, knew she’d hear noises from the wind turbines long before they were up and running. Now that the wind turbines are online and turning slowly, the anti-wind project people are using the noise complaint.
The snow guns at the ski areas put out a loud noise 24 hours a day, making snow. The noise is usually a loud, whining sound. I have never heard any complaints about the snow guns.
The NewPage paper mill puts out all kinds of loud noises. I live 6 miles from the mill and hear these sounds daily. I have lived with those sounds for years.
I believe that after the newness wears off, the body will adjust to all kinds of different sounds. So, I say, get a life and accept the necessities around us. A little noise from a wind project beats the coal-fired power plants producing their pollution of carbon dioxide that finds its way to the Northeast.
