LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice has a growing need for hospice and bereavement volunteers in the Lewiston/Auburn, Brunswick/Topsham areas who have a special interest in visiting patients in their homes and in nursing homes.
The bereavement volunteer four-session training will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. beginning Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Lewiston office. For new volunteers there will be an orientation class on Monday, Jan. 23.
There will also be a bereavement facilitator class for those who have gone through the bereavement volunteer training and would like to help facilitate grief support groups. The class will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, Feb. 6.
The hospice volunteer six-session training will begin Monday, Jan. 23, at the Lewiston office, 15 Strawberry Ave. Classes will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.
There is no cost to participate in any of the trainings.
The organization is also looking for volunteers for the hospice complementary program who provide reiki, pet therapy and musicians who would be willing to play at the bedside of patients.
