This is in response to the Rev. Douglas Taylor’s guest column, Jan. 15.

Leadership consists of two parts — the leader and his followers. When a leader uses his full potential, displaying true leadership, his followers will support him. When a person in a leadership position fails to lead, his followers will no longer support him.

The Lewiston-Auburn area seems be facing such a problem. Those in religious leadership positions in the Twin Cities should try harder. As Taylor wrote, “You would think our religious leaders live in North Korea by how silent and non-visible they seem to be.”

I suggest that religious leaders examine their faith. What does it mean to profess belief in God’s word? Is it enough to simply preach one day of the week?

Religious leaders need to be more involved with their people and the community. Better leadership will attract more followers.
