DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was wondering if any of your readers could help me out. I have a collection of Harlequin Presents romance novels, and quite a few of the early numbers are missing. I would like to first complete numbers 1 to 100, and then I will work on the 200s, 300s, etc.

I have some novels in the 1,000s, 1,100s and higher that I would be willing to trade for the older ones. It is a soft cover book with a white background, and a picture in a circle. On the top, left-hand side is the number.

The missing numbers are 2, 4, 7-12, 15, 16, 18-21, 24, 25, 26, 28-35, 37, 41, 43, 44, 47, 50-53, 55, 57, 60, 62-64, 66, 67, 71, 72-74, 81, 95, 96 and 97.

If any of your readers would be willing to trade books with me or sell them at a reasonable rate, I would appreciate it. My home and work phone is 946-3669.

Thanks for the good work you do in providing this column. — Diane, Greene

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone own the book by Diane Amos titled “Promise Me Forever” that they’ve already read and would be willing to part with for a reasonable price? — No name

ANSWER: Used copies of this book are available at Amazon.com, but for some reason the price is higher than a new edition. There is also a copy of this book at the Lewiston Public Library.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I believe I have some very old family Bibles that may be of interest to some families in this area.

Some information in one Bible is: 1841, Mary Hemmond, Readfield Depot, ME, Sept. 1890, Edward Barron Backerville School, grade 3, 1935.

Information found in the second Bible is: 1871, Edward Godsmith (Grimsbys), M. Fytche 1920. There are also a number of religious books found with these Bibles.

If anyone feels these Bibles/books may be of interest to their families, please contact me. — Heidi Burgess, mhburgess@roadrunner.com, 784-9294

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What a wonderful service you provide.

Several months ago you printed the email address for a lady who takes Bibles and sends them to poor countries.

I am asking if she still does that and, if so, what her email address or phone number is.

I also have craft books and patterns to give away. They would have to be picked up at my home. — Fran Sawtelle, frans@myfairpoint.net

ANSWER: Sun Spots guesses you are talking about Gina, who is part of a group sending books to Africa. Sun Spots talked to Gina and she said they are still taking Bibles and other Christian materials. You can email Gina at gnpmitch@yahoo.com or call 897-3078.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Oak Hill Young Writers’ Club is looking for essays, poetry and short stories from local adult writers for their upcoming book, “Through the Ages.” This book will become a footprint for students attending school in the Regional School Unit 4, so there are some restrictions on what we will take.

Please contact me for more information on the format, subject requirements and submission guidelines. — Keith Evans, OHYWC president, ohywc@yahoo.com, 375-8741
