JAY — An Auburn man was accused Sunday of illegally selling the prescription drug oxycodone.

Police had received information and officer Nicholas Gulliver and Jay Detective Richard Caton IV began an investigation and conducted interviews, Caton said Monday.

Police found Andrew R. Whalen, 25, of Auburn, walking on Main Street in North Jay. Caton said Whalen was arrested on a charge of trafficking in schedule W drugs.

He is accused of selling 30-milligram pills, Caton said.

Whalen was released on $3,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear on March 23 in a Farmington court.
