STERLING, Mass. — Yvette A. “Mickey” Tartre, 84, Jan. 21, marked the passing of a truly remarkable woman. Yvette died at Sterling Village in Sterling, Mass., due to complications from a fall.
She was born in Old Town, May 30, 1927, and lived all of her life in Maine, with the exception of the past three years, when she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her daughter, Jane. She graduated from John Bapst High School in Bangor in 1945, and from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Lewiston in 1948. She spent the rest of her life in some capacity as a nurse.
Her three most important priorities in life were her family, her faith and her friends. She was happiest in her kitchen cooking and entertaining her husband, children and grandchildren. She made each and every family member feel that he or she was the most special of all. Her faith was unwavering. She was a devout Catholic and lived her faith every day. Everyone who knew Mickey loved her. No matter the occasion, her presence and smile would light up the room. She lived her life with grace and dignity and a positive spirit that was unbounded.
She married the love of her life, Raymond (Red) Tartre, Nov. 6, 1948. They were a great team. “Red” provided the vision and “Mickey” made it all happen including raising five children.
Mickey had a great many interests, sewing, reading, cooking, tennis and skiing. Her greatest passions were playing bridge with her friends, and golf.
She is survived by her five children, Elizabeth Lemire of Seattle, Wash., Jane Rabbitt and her husband, John Rabbitt, of Lunenburg, Mass., Charles Tartre and his wife, Susan Berg Tartre, of Falmouth, James Tartre and his wife, Anne Masse Tartre, of Falmouth and Robert Tartre and his wife, Susan O’Hearn Tartre, of Denver, Colo; nine grandchildren, Peter Lemire and his wife, Sarah, of Denver, Colo., Amy Lemire Koehl and her husband, Matthew Koehl, of Seattle, Wash., Matthew Stanley and his fiancee, Andrea Bergeron, of Keene, N.H., Andrew Stanley of Ashburnham, Mass., Martin Tartre, Kaitlyn Tartre and Ryan Tartre, of Falmouth and Samantha Tartre and Reilly Tartre, of Denver, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Claudia Lemire and Lucas Lemire of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Joan Drinkwater and her husband, Verle, of Melbourne, Fla.; and a brother, Ronald Martin and his wife, Jan, of Bangor.
