GORHAM — Brian L. Diehl, one of the busiest professional trombonists in the Boston area, will appear in concert Friday, Feb. 3, at the University of Southern Maine.

 For the “Favorite Works, A La Cart” concert, Diehl, a USM School of Music faculty member, will perform original and borrowed music from around the world performed on trombone and euphonium. Pianist Sanae Kanda will provide accompaniment.

Diehl is also low brass soloist with orchestras throughout New England, as well as a member of the Springfield (Massachusetts) Symphony Orchestra.

The program will include the world premiere of an untitled work by Kanda, the premiere of a new arrangement of Piazzola’s tango-influenced music and portions of Diehl”s favorite selections.

“I think you’ll find the program emotionally moving, exciting, engaging, and with constantly changing sound, colors, and moods to keep everyone enthralled throughout the entire program,”Diehl said.
