RUMFORD — The Hope Association will hold its 37th annual Snowmobile Ride-In on Sunday, Feb. 5.

Held every year since 1974 the event brings area snowmobilers together with participants to raise money and, more importantly, offers participants a chance to enjoy the outdoors in a unique way. Thanks to the generosity of local snowmobilers, the community, volunteers and the participants themselves, this event has raised more than $270,000 since it began.

This year’s ride-in is in memory of Donald Hebert, former president of the Poodunck Snowmobile Club, who pioneered the annual ride-in. Hebert passed away May 6, 2011, after a courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome.

Friends and supporters of Hope Association may purchase raffle tickets to win cash prizes, gift certificates and other prizes. Cost is $1 for one ticket or $5 for six tickets. Donations are also accepted. All donations provide opportunities for individuals with intellectual and related disabilities to participate in non-Medicaid reimbursable activities and to purchase materials or equipment that are not paid for by state funds.

The ride-in will be held at Horizons Unlimited, 319 Swain Road, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Prizes will be drawn at 1:30. A hot buffet dinner will be available. For more information, call 364-4561 or visit www.hopeassociation.org.
