BETHEL — Nick Mills ignited a 17-2 run in the opening frame Thursday as Telstar quickly checked out on Winthrop and hustled to a 54-34 victory in MVC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

Mills led the Rebels (7-7) with 19 points, including eight in that key first quarter. Dan Whitney chipped in with 12 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. Corey Howard also contributed with eight points.

The Ramblers were led by freshman guard Taylor

Morang with seven points.

Leavitt 56, Mt. View 48

THORNDIKE — Tyler Walton sparked a 16-8 run in the first quarter that sent Leavitt racing away to a 56-48 victory over Mt. View in a KVAC boys’ basketball matchup Thursday.

Walton scored six of his 14 points in the opening stanza, while Tim Dow chipped in for the Hornets (11-3) with 12 points. Jordan Hersom also contributed nine points in a well-balanced attack.

The Mustangs (6-8) were paced by Bobby Porter with a game-high 16 points, while Taylor Gibbs chipped in with 10.

Morse 60, Oak Hill 35

WALES — Morse erupted for 27 points in the second quarter and raced away to post a convincing 60-35 victory over Oak Hill in a KVAC boys’ basketball game.

Ted Cole scored 12 of his 15 points in the second frame, setting the tone early for how this one would play out. Matt Munster led the Shipbuilders with 17 points.

The struggling Raiders (0-14) were paced by Parker Asselin with 15 points, while Sam Morin chipped in with nine.

Dirigo 72, Hall-Dale 41

DIXFIELD — Josh Turbide knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 16 points as Dirigo mopped up Hall-Dale with a 72-41 victory in a boys’ basketball game Thursday night.

The undefeated Cougars (14-0) held the Bulldogs (10-4) to single-digit scoring in the first half and built a 36-12 halftime lead.

Ben Holmes scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, Caleb Turner had six steals, and T.J. Frost was credited with seven assists and six steals for the Cougars.

For Hall-Dale, Zac Plummer scored 10 points.

St. Dom’s 47, Lisbon 29

AUBURN — St. Dom’s jumped out to build a nine-point lead in the first frame and pulled steadily away to post a 47-29 victory over Lisbon in an MVC boys’ basketball tilt Thursday.

Tom Applegate led the Saints (7-7) with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Joe Bryant chipped in with 11 points. Zak Johnson also contributed with nine points.

The struggling Greyhounds (1-13) were paced by Mason Haley with nine points, while Mason Smith added six.
