MONTROSE, N.Y. — John Joseph Mahon, 74, died Jan. 27, at the New York State Veterans Home.

He was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Boston, Mass., the son of the late John J. and Ruth Kelley Mahon of Lewiston. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Meagan Dwyer and Kelly Dimock; son, Brendan Mahon; grandchildren, Michael and Caroline Dwyer, Elizabeth and Daniel Dimock; his sister, Mary Mahon MacMillan; brother-in-law, Donald MacMillan; nieces, Maura Wayman, Jennifer McCartin, Sheila Cole, Amy Santenello; nephew, Donald D. MacMillan.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth Wright Mahon, in 1992.

John was a man of great faith and strength and a shining example of kindness. He will be missed.
