LEWISTON — Juliette R. Berube, 88, died Jan. 31, at Marchwood Nursing Home. She went to the Lord surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston, Sept. 6, 1923, the daughter of George and Alice Gagne Delisle. She married the late Francis R. Berube in 1943. They had a son by the name of Jackie and six daughters. Her husband passed away at the young age of 47 years.

Juliette worked many years in the mill and local shoe shops. Her favorite was the Koss Shoe Co. of Auburn. While her children were young and old, she also enjoyed working at the Linwood Hotel in Old Orchard Beach. The locals, as well as the Canadians, loved her spunk. Her spunky way with words, as well as her zest for life, will be remembered by many who knew her.

Juliette was a volunteer at Heritage Court for the elderly, where she once lived. She loved to serve people. Every Christmas, she would play the role of Santa Claus and gave gifts that she purchased on her own.

She was an avid Bingo player for many years. She often traveled on bus tours with her longtime friend, Yvette Laprise to New Hampshire. In her younger years, she also enjoyed horse track racing and spent time at the former Lewiston Fairgrounds.

She was strong willed, surviving breast cancer, a stroke, and a loss of an eye. This time, she has lost her will to survive.
