FARMINGTON — A second man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Franklin County Superior Court to stealing scrap metal from a Temple property in August 2011.

Charles N. Rogers, 53, of Farmington pleaded guilty to theft.

Justice Michaela Murphy sentenced him to serve seven days in jail and to pay $500 in restitution.

Rogers’ attorney, Linda Sparks, requested that the sentence be postponed until April 14 so another family member could take care of a relative for whom Rogers is the caretaker.

Justice Murphy agreed.

Rogers is one of six men in Franklin County accused of stealing scrap metal, mostly automobile parts, from a Temple property owner.

The property owner suspected metal was being taken and talked to a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy who advised him to set up a game camera. He did, and the camera caught images of people taking metal, police said.

Roy Gordon, 41, of Farmington, pleaded guilty to theft in the same case Monday. He was sentenced to serve 48 hours in jail and to pay $500 in restitution.

The property owner valued the metal at about $5,000, Assistant District Attorney James Andrews said.
