GRAY — After a slow start, the Poland/Gray-New Gloucester boys’ hockey squad erupted for five goals in the third period and skated to a 8-1 romp over Fryeburg/Lake Region in a late-season matchup Wednesday.

Evan Bagg, Ryan Davala and Lucas Nickerson led the Patriotic Knights (3-13) with two goals apiece, while David Despins and Evan Coulombe also tallied to complete the scoring. Jake Simard made 12 saves to post the victory.

Fryeburg/Lake Region received their lone goal from Dakota Russo in the second stanza. Topi Lackso turned back 24 shots in a solid goal-tending effort.

Yarmouth 8, Leavitt 1

YARMOUTH — Dylan Tureff netted four goals Wednesday as Yarmouth easily outskated Leavitt to post a 8-1 victory in late-season boys’ hockey action.

Tureff managed to score in all three periods to rally his team. Alex Kurtz chipped in for the Clippers (9-4-1) with a hat trick, while Max Watson also tallied to complete the scoring. Red Desmith made 15 saves to notch the win.

The Hornets (5-11) received their lone goal from Ian Durgin in the third period, while Nick Allen turned aside 18 shots between the pipes for Leavitt.
