LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is excited to announce two new spay/neuter programs for pets of residents within Androscoggin County.

Made possible with the $20,000 grant prize awarded to the Humane Society following their efforts in the 2011 ASPCA’s $100K Challenge the Humane Society introduces their new Pit Bull Spay/Neuter Program. Open to all residents, this program enables owners of both pure breed pit bull and mixes to have their dog spayed/neutered for just a $10 co-pay. A rabies vaccination is also included.

For cats in the community, the Targeted Feline Spay/Neuter Program enables qualifying individuals in need of financial assistance can have their cat or kitten spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies for just a $10 co-pay.

To take part in each of these programs, pet owners must live within the greater Androscoggin area. For more information on these and other spay/neuter programs available or to learn how to register a pet in a program, contact the Humane Society at 783-2311.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society provides a safe haven for over 5,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.
