RUMFORD — John Belanger Jr., 94, of Virgin Street died Friday, Feb. 17, at Rumford Hospital with loving family by his side.

He was born in Rumford, Dec. 9, 1917, a son of Maria (Guilmette) and John Belanger Sr. He married Lillian Austin on Nov. 15, 1943. She passed away in 1990.

John was employed for 40 years with Oxford Paper and Boise Cascade and was a member of their 25-and 40-year club.

He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, and was also a life member at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of the Citizen Conservation Corps.

John loved to play the harmonica and the banjo.

Surviving are two daughters, Roberta J. Day and husband, Charles, of Brunswick, Md., and Mary Ann Murphy and husband, Bill, of Mexico; a sister Theresa Fitzmorris of Auburn; six grandchildren, Keith, Kelly, Dawn Marie, Christine, Shawn and Denise; and five great-grandchildren, Alex, Mariah, Cecilia, Dominic and Wesley.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Lillian; infant son, Robert John Belanger; a brother, Paul; and two sisters, Arthemise and Jeannette.
