FARMINGTON — A truckload of food will be given away Thursday at the Care and Share Food Closet in the Fairbanks School Meeting House at 508 Fairbanks Road.

The Good Shepherd Food Mobile from Auburn is expected to be there from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 23, food closet co-coordinator Tony McLaughlin said.

It will be the first food giveaway in Farmington, he said.

No sign-up is needed and no restrictions will be imposed. All of the food must go, and anyone in the area can participate.

McLaughlin said he expects a good quantity of the food that the closet normally buys from Good Shepherd will be offered.

About 10 Care and Share Food Closet volunteers will help with the giveaway, he said. Tables will be set up inside and out, depending on the weather.

The Care and Share Food Closet will open as usual from noon to 2 p.m. after the giveaway. No regular orders will be filled during the giveaway time.

The closet provides a few days of food once in a 30-day period and serves the towns of Farmington, West Farmington, New Sharon, New Vineyard, North New Portland, Temple and Chesterville.
