LEWISTON — The F.A.B. Dance Showcase, featuring dancers and choreographers from all over the state, will be presented by Bates College and the Franco-American Heritage Center on Friday, March 2.

Participating artists are selected from local independent dance schools and companies, as well as the dance programs of notable colleges and universities.

Performers for the seventh annual showcase include Annie Kloppenberg and Todd Coulter, Colby College faculty, Waterville; Art Moves, Sasha Campbell, Norway; Sonar (Emma Arenstam and Sasha Randall), Portland; Kate Speer, Lewiston and Colorado; Collective Motion, Jennifer Bourgault, Portland; indiedancework, Susan Thompson Brown, Portland; 2ROMA, Patrisha Harms and Christine Simes, Dover, N.H.; Elizabeth Hansen, artistic director of Androscoggin Dance and owner/director of The Dance Center in Auburn; Ashley Booker, Bates College student; Shawn Hove, Connecticut College staff; Carol Dilley and Rachel Boggia, Bates College faculty; and Vicki Perreault, Portland.

As a highlight, Androscoggin Dance will present two new works created for nine young local dancers participating in AD’s intensive program. Amelia Pullen, who has taught at The Dance Center and Androscoggin Dance for six years, choreographed a modern piece to “Ohhs and Ahhs,” by Need To Breathe, that explores man’s attempt at self-justification. Hansen’s choreographed piece is a fast-paced, lighthearted ballet to a jazzy rendition of “Squatty Roo,” by Kenny Barron and Regina Carter.
