FARMINGTON — Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County in conjunction with the Maine Huts & Trails is encouraging everyone to take part in the first-ever Great Maine Outdoor Weekend on March 3-4. Participants can choose from two offerings.

The first will be a free guided snowshoe walk on Saturday, March 3. Participants should meet at the Gauge Road Trailhead in Carrabassett Valley at 10 a.m. The group will be guided into Poplar Stream Falls Hut for lunch.

The second event will be a guided cross country ski trip into Flagstaff Hut on Sunday, March 4. Skiers should meet at the Long Falls Dam Road Trailhead in North New Portland at 10 a.m.

Skiers and hikers for both events will have an option to purchase lunch at the hut or to pack their own lunch.
