BOWDOINHAM — Rep. Seth Berry has announced his bid for re-election to the Maine House of Representatives. Berry represents House District 67, which serves Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Richmond and the historic nature preserve of Swan Island.

“I hope next session we can stop rolling back people’s rights and protections in Augusta, and instead focus on creating jobs and restoring a strong middle class,” Berry said. “People are struggling. True economic strength begins with economic justice.”

Berry, 43, was first elected to represent the district in 2006 and has been re-elected twice by wide margins. He grew up in Bowdoinham and has taught in public schools for more than 20 years, half in East Harlem, N.Y., and half in SAD 75. He is a vice president at Kennebec River Biosciences in Richmond, a former Bowdoinham selectman and past majority whip of the Maine House. He currently serves as ranking minority member of the Legislature’s Taxation Committee.

Berry lives in Bowdoinham with his wife, Adelaida, and their two sons, ages 8 and 10.

“It is rewarding to know the concerns and values of everyone in this district, and to then sponsor and support legislation that helps them and other Maine people as well — from our small business owners to their workers, from our seniors to our youngest children,” said Berry.

He can be reached at 522-1609 or at seth@sethberry.org.
