NORWAY — The 1955 film “Salt of the Earth” will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St., for International Women’s Day.

The film depicts the actual story of Mexican-American miners striking in New Mexico for decent working conditions and pay equal to their Anglo counterparts. They won because women and girls took over the strike.

Brief video reminders of two famous women defenders of human rights, Mother Jones and Rosa Luxemburg, will be shown at 6:30 p.m.

Refreshments and discussion will follow the film.
