RUMFORD — From March 2-4, Black Mountain of Maine will host Winterfest, a weekend-long celebration of winter, which includes fireworks, live music, sledding, horse-drawn wagon rides and special lift ticket prices.

Winterfest features special family events throughout the weekend. Even those who don’t ski or snowboard will be able to enjoy the Winterfest activities. Along with terrific snow conditions, skiers and snowboarders will enjoy free night skiing on Saturday night and a Big Air Competition during the day. Scenic chairlift rides, horse-drawn sleigh rides and the spectacle of the torchlight parade are great activities for non-skiers.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be sledding on the Novice on Saturday. The chairlift will bring sledders to the top for all the sledding fun without any of the hiking. And, with live entertainment all weekend, everyone can come together for fun in the base lodge.
