BATH — Florence I. Stewart, 87, of Brunswick, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Winship Green Nursing Center.
Florence was born in Brunswick, Aug. 1, 1924, the daughter of Joseph C. and Blanche Bernier Dionne.
She attended Brunswick High School and married Albert Lacasse, who died in 1947.
Florence later married Clifford Stewart on Nov. 28, 1953. He died Nov. 8, 1996.
She was a self-employed seamstress and dress maker most of her life. She had also worked at the Verney Mill, Auerbach Shoe Co., Health-Tex and also worked as a waitress at The Norwego Diner, which is now Miss Brunswick Diner.
In addition to being a seamstress, she also enjoyed knitting and was a member of the Topsham Post 202 American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her son, Donald Lacasse of Brunswick; two stepsons, James Stewart and his wife, Ann, of Bethany, Conn., and William Stewart of Livermore; her sister, Violet Vaillancourt of Brunswick; a special niece and godchild, Susan Vaillancourt Alexander of Brunswick; her stepgrandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Gregory Cliburn, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Matthew Stewart of Bethany, Conn., Megan and husband, Joshua Hall, of Chesterville and Randy Stewart and his fiancee, Renee Brown, of Littleton, Colo.; and a stepgrandson, Riley Hall of Chesterville.
Besides her two husbands, Florence was predeceased by a brother, Alcide Dionne.
