In an Associated Press story in the Sun Journal, Feb. 20, David Sharp referred to Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins as “moderates.” He is, of course, entitled to his opinion.

But for decades, both senators have consistently voted to deprive unborn children of legal protection, voting to give pregnant women a so-called “choice” (abortion, ugh).

For years, both senators have voted consistently to prevent the extraction of oil from ANWR. That has helped push the price of gasoline and home heating oil higher and higher. In Maine, that is a critical issue.

Both senators voted to extend three provisions of the so-called “Patriot Act.” Those violate vital privacy provisions of the Fourth Amendment of the Bill of Rights.

The two Maine senators are not “moderates”; they are liberals.
