AUBURN — The mock trial team at Edward Little High School, under the coaching of lawyer Justin Leary, enjoyed a very good season this fall. After winning prior matches, the team reached the state quarterfinals.
Team members met for light refreshments and for their awards. First-year recognition went to Sheldon Bang, Patrick Cowan, Hannah Farrington, Amanda Grenier and Peter Lenardis. Four members received their second-year awards: Abdi Omar, Danika Sanborn, Magenta Silberman and Taylor Tyrrell. Alia Abdulahi was recognized for her participation for three years.
The Iron Man Award went to Abdi Omar and the Iron Women Awards went to both Danika Sanborn and Magenta Silberman.
Other awards were given to Patrick Cowan as best witness for his excellent portrayal of Dale Williams; to Taylor Tyrrell for her direct examination; to Abdi Omar for his cross-examination; and to both Alia Abdulahi and Magenta Silberman for their work as lawyers in direct examination, cross examination and closings.
Peter Lenardis was awarded the “Most Promising Neophyte” Award. Magenta Silberman was accorded the award voted on by her peers as the “Most Valuable Member” of the team.
