AUBURN — Carol J. Berube Spencer, 52, of Holland Street, Lewiston, died Friday, March 2, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, where she has resided for the past two weeks, after a long three-and-a-half-year courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Lewiston on March 19, 1959, the daughter of Ralph and Virginia Grignon Spencer Jr. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1977.

She worked at various shoe shops and was later employed at L.L. Bean and most recently as an administrative executive assistant for Falcon Performance Footwear.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making arts and crafts, baking and loved traveling to the ocean with her husband, Don.

She is survived by her husband, Don Berube, whom she married Nov. 30, 1990; her daughters, Crystal Aube of Gray and Tabatha Aube of Auburn; her son, Matthew Aube of Lewiston; her father, Ralph Spencer Jr. of Carthage and his wife, Constance; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Mildred Berube of Sabattus; stepdaughter, Courtney Wilson of New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Delilah, Jacob, Alyssa, Savanah and Andrew; her sisters, Melodye Brousseau and Brenda Giasson, both of Lewiston; her brothers, Ralph Spencer III and wife, Diane, and Carlton Spencer and wife, Kelly; and by many stepbrothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

She was predeceased by her mother, Virginia Ann Spencer.
