The Lewiston-Auburn area chapter of Mended Hearts has elected officers who will serve through 2013. Among those serving as leaders of the group are, from left, Joan Crawford, secretary; Ed Madden, president; Cheryl Strout, advisor; Raoul Fernandez, assistant Northeast regional director; Katie Davis, treasurer; and Dave Wood, vice president. Mended Hearts, a patient-run support group, is a national nonprofit organization that supports heart disease patients and their families through a visiting program and monthly meetings. The Lewiston-Auburn chapter last year dedicated 1,400 hours making some 2,890 patient/family visits. The group meets at 5 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the conference room on the first floor of the Young Wing at Central Maine Medical Center-Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute.
