Dance on East Ave.

LEWISTON — The Knights of Columbus Councils 106, 10019 and 12,652 will host a St. Patrick’s Dinner/Dance on Saturday, March 17, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 150 East Ave. The social will be from 6 to 7 p.m., a ham dinner will be served from 7 to 8 p.m. and dancing to Patio Cowboys will take place from 8 to 11 p.m.

Tickets are $17.50 per person and may be purchased from grand knight Leo Baillargeon at 784-0389, grand knight Bob Hebert at 754-9515 or grand knight Dan Leclair at 754-2841. Deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, March 12.

WLU meeting

AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the club house, 19 Elm St. Owners of Dupuis Wellness, Josie and Richard Dupuis, will talk about their wellness center and “hope, rejuvenation, and healing.” Hospitality will be provided by Dorothy Bowyer and Marilyn Wilkinson. Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.

AUBURN — The MEMIC Center for Workplace Safety at Central Maine Community College will host a Wellness in the Office & Home workshop. This program explains how health and wellness don’t punch in and out from the office to home — it’s a 24/7 exercise.

This single day workshop will be held Thursday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $99 and includes all materials. MEMIC policy holders are eligible for a discount.

CMMC Associates

LEWISTON — The CMMC Associates will meet Monday, March 12, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch. Guest speakers for the meeting will be Michael Cox and Elizabeth Turcotte from the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine.

At the February meeting, Heidi Morin, manager of the Special Delivery Family Birthing Center and Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit at CMMC, discussed the hospital’s recent recertification as “baby friendly” by Baby-Friendly USA, the U.S. authority for the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

CMMC is one of just four Maine hospitals and only 77 hospitals nationwide that have achieved Baby-Friendly certification.

Extension meeting

LISBON FALLS — The Androscoggin-Sagadahoc Counties Extension Association will hold its annual meeting and elect new officers on Monday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office, 24 Main St.

A potluck dinner will follow the meeting, which is open to the public.

The ASCEA is actively recruiting new members. In partnership with UMaine Extension staff, the members of each County Extension Association assist with providing input on local educational programming needs and oversees the county budget appropriations that support UMaine Extension educational programs for county residents.

Phlebotomy course

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services department at Central Maine Community College will offer Introduction to Phlebotomy on Tuesday evenings from March 20 to May 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $475 and includes materials and book.

A combination of lecture, lab and hands-on practical experience, this course will allow students to develop the skills needed to work in an entry level position in medical facilities as a phlebotomist.
