LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen agreed Monday to allow the Town Office to be closed two hours Friday, March 9, so staff can see a banking service demonstration.

Andro-Pay is offered by Androscoggin Bank. It would set up online payment options for townspeople needing to pay certain bills, if selectmen decide to pursue it.

Town Manager Kristal Flagg said she did not know if the session would take the full two hours.

Selectmen also decided Monday night to hold a budget workshop at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at the Town Office. The purpose of the workshop is to allow selectmen to work through the budget without interruption.

Flagg informed selectmen that the Facade Grant has been closed out. She said she awarded the remaining $1,235.25 to Brenda Brochu of Bailey Brothers Ford Dealership. Brochu was the only one to submit an application.

The town received a Community Development Block Grant of $150,000 in 2008 to be awarded to businesses on a $1-to-$1 match to fix the exterior of business buildings. The amount that was to be awarded after administrative and architect costs was about $120,000.

There was some money not used and the town was allowed to buy benches, trash barrels, bike racks, signs and other items to improve the downtown. The $1,235.25 was returned to the town last year by the Chuck Wagon Restaurant owners, who sold a portion of their property, which benefited from the grant, to Farmington Memorial Hospital to make way for the medical center.

In other business, selectmen appointed Carmen Cullen to the Budget Committee. More positions are available on the board, Flagg said.
