Dummy Downhill

FARMINGTON — Titcomb Mountain will host the 15th annual Dummy Downhill Competition at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10.

Registration will begin at noon. Judging of the dummies will begin at 1 p.m. in front of the lodge. The competition begins at 1:30 p.m. on the Main Slope.

The dummies will be judged in the following categories: originality or most creative, best workmanship, fastest time, longest distance, longest jump, most spectacular crash and overall.

Old skis are available at the lodge if needed to build a dummy.

Tupperware fundraiser

LIVERMORE FALLS — A Tupperware party fundraiser will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at American Legion Hall, 17 Reynolds Ave.

Harlem Superstars

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jobs for Maine’s Graduates students at Spruce Mountain High School’s South Campus are again sponsoring an evening of fun as the Harlem Superstars are coming to town. They will play against the Spruce Mountain Dream Team at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Spruce Mountain South’s gymnasium.

Tickets in advance are $7, and will be sold at school offices of Spruce Mountain High School’s North and South campuses, Spruce Mountain Middle School and Livermore Elementary School. At the door that evening tickets will be $8.

St. Patrick’s dinner

RANGELEY — The Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St., will hold a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17.

Menu will include corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots and onions, bar cookie or bread pudding, coffee, tea, milk or shamrock punch. Takeout orders welcome.

Adults $8, children under 13 $4. Door prizes will be given.

CHESTERVILLE — On Tuesday, March 20, the North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Chesterville Town Office on the Dutch Gap Road.

The topic of the meeting is Nova Scotia. There will be information shared about the history of Nova Scotia. The group will also hear about current things happening in Nova Scotia and listen to music while enjoying some foods made with Nova Scotia recipes. T

School registration

JAY — Jay Elementary School kindergarten registration is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 5 and 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration and screening will be by appointment only. Call 897-5719 to schedule an appointment. A child must be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 15. It is necessary to have the child’s original birth certificate, current immunization records and proof of residency (electric bill, rental agreement or tax bill) at the time of registration. Students cannot be registered without the necessary documents.

The immunization record can be obtained from the child’s physician. A certified copy of the child’s birth certificate can be obtained at the town office where you were residing at the time of your child’s birth. The cost in Jay for a birth certificate is $15 for the first copy and $6 for each additional copy.

Students residing in Jay must register at this time for the fall of 2012. Current pre-K/Head Start students also must register at this time.
