Basketball fundraiser
RUMFORD — The Mexico Fire Department ATV Fundraising Committee is sponsoring a fun evening of basketball games Friday, March 16, in Puiia Gym, Mountain Valley High School.
Firefighter Matt Winston said the three-hour event will get underway at 6 p.m.
There will be four game, including members of the high school basketball teams, a mix of students and the faculty, parents and the kids, and an event called the Battle of the Badges (fire versus police), with fire and police also taking on students.
There will also be events between each game, including a 50/50, a blindfold free throw contest (for a prize) and chances sold to make a shot from midcourt. The Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters will sell food as well.
Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. Doors will open around 5:30 p.m.
Proceeds will go toward the purchase of a six-wheel ATV rescue vehicle, for which the department has raised a little over half the monies.
Class of 1955
RUMFORD — The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will meet at the Route 2 Diner at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, for luncheon.
RUMFORD — A volunteer secretary us needed for the River Valley Riders ATV Club. Members will train the person who volunteers. Call Sheila at 562-7713 or Dan Mitchell at 562-8873 for more information.
Class breakfast
DIXFIELD — Mexico High School classmates of 1961 will meet at Ellis’s Variety, Weld Street, at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 17. All classmates are invited.
Fiddle concert
WELD — The Ladies Extension Homemakers are sponsoring an evening of music with the Mt. Blue High School’s Franklin County Fiddlers at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Town Hall.
The concert is free, but there will be an open fiddle case for those who wish to give donations to the fiddlers for their performance. There will be cookies and drinks at intermission.
Rotary buffet breakfast
BETHEL — The Rotary Club of Bethel will hold the spring all-you-can-eat buffet from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 18, at Ordway Dining Hall, Gould Academy, Church Street.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children 12 or younger. Tickets in advance are $7 and can be purchased from club members or at the River View Resort, Rostay Inn, Dream Realty and Mt. Mann Jewelers. Proceeds benefit the club’s community projects and scholarships.
