L/A Senior League summer signups
AUBURN — The L/A Senior Hockey League played in Auburn will be hosting its summer hockey league registrations on Monday, March 19 and Monday, March 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pettingill Park Pond House. The registrations are for both men’s and women’s leagues.
There is a new men’s slow down ‘Coasters Division’ being developed. This division is designed to play the game of hockey but at a more relaxed fun level and based on player caliber, not age. It will be designed for beginners, slow down caliber of play, for those who still want to play hockey just to have fun and for those older guys who are not ready to hang up the skates.
Cost to play in all Divisions is $255 if you are already currently playing and registered in the past winter season, $280 if you are not. Timekeepers, referees, insurance, pucks, all league operation cost, weekly standings, etc., are all part of fee.
Age to register is as follows: 18 years of age and older for the women’s division; 25 years of age and older for the men’s division.
Season starts the weekend of April 13 and will end late August. Season will consist of 18 games.
The men’s leagues will be played on Friday and Sunday nights. The women’s league will be played a weekday night.

MV hoop tourney
RUMFORD/MEXIC)O — The Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters in conjunction with the MV Rec Men’s Basketball League will be holding its annual invitational basketball tournament on March 30 and 31 and April 1 at Mountain Valley High School and Mountain Valley Middle School.
This tournament will consist of an 16 teams divided into A and B divisions based on skill and competition level. There will be a minimum of three round robin games on Friday and Saturday followed by playoff rounds on Sunday. Games will consist of two 20-minute running halves with stop time in the last two minutes of each half. All tourney teams for each division are awarded. There will also be local shop and corporate giveaways.
Included are shooting contests, foul shooting, 3-point competition and a new skills shooting event. There will be evening activities at local establishments in Rumford. The Elks Club will also be hosting a Saturday evening buffet and dance and will be available throughout the tournament serving lunch items. The Boosters will also be serving drinks and snacks. There will be discounts for lodging for out of town teams.
